Works to the Rescue: Mold Discovery and Prevention

That’s when one of the homeowners told us she had been smelling mold for quite some time. The WORKS team found the source, and I sent her a message on BaseCamp, our project management software that lets homeowners track their projects from anywhere on any desktop, laptop or mobile device. Here is part of our BaseCamp exchange:
Jesse: “Mold smell is from hood fan vent cover to outside, not flashed properly, letting water into wall cavity and getting mold. Insulation will be replaced and sprayed with mold spray before reinstalling.”

The WORKS team made sure the fan vent cover was properly installed and flashed this time around.
Homeowner: “I can’t believe how bad that is.”When we opened up the shower stall, however, we found yet another potential mold issue: the shower pan was completely rotted out. I posted the picture on BaseCamp(see left) to let the homeowners see the problem for themselves, which prompted this exchange:
Jesse: “It is amazing. When we opened it up, we could not believe there were not major water issues, but it was just a matter of time.”
Our homeowners appreciate our ability to track down mold and potential mold problems and solve them. But even more, they appreciate our dedicated to communicating immediately about any concerns, from scheduling to the homeowners’ preferred location for storing supplies overnight. They can “listen in” on BaseCamp as I talk with the WORK team and subcontractors to make sure everyone is on the same page and no detail is overlooked.
