“We had the money to remodel the kitchen but of course we wanted the job to be cost-effective. So we went with a ‘good deal’ contractor. We thought a lot about the quality of the materials we wanted, but we didn’t think about the quality of the contractor.

“Our home was built in the 1880s, and it had a lot of rot in the kitchen. The contractor’s crew ripped out some of the sections but left others. They actually reframed windows with the rot still there. In a couple of years, those windows would be completely unsupported.

“The ceiling had to be replaced, and they ripped down some of the strapping and replaced it with new strapping. Now old wood is not measured the same as new wood. A one-by-four today is no longer one-inch thick. So our ceiling had some strapping that was the old thickness and some that was the new thickness, and the drywall couldn’t be nailed in properly.

“We didn’t know about holding back some of the payment until the kitchen renovation was completed satisfactorily. Once the contractor and his crew were paid in full, they all just left. They left debris everywhere. They left the job incomplete. That’s when we called in Jesse.

“The WORKS team had to reframe the windows, they had to replace the ceiling, they had to fix the subflooring, and when they finally fixed all the problems the other guys left behind, then they could finish our kitchen.

“The kitchen renovation ended up costing a lot more because I had to pay the original contractor and then pay WORKS to fix the mess the original contractor left me with. I needed someone who understood my budget and, if a problem arose, would talk to me about how to deal with it. I needed someone like Jesse in the first place. Thank goodness for WORKS.”

You might say the WORKS team is in the business of providing happy endings. But why go through the horror story first? Contact us, please. We will help make your kitchen renovation a great experience from start to finish.
