Josh Pinstein has a lot of nice things to say about WORKS, and we have great things to say about Josh. He’s our Project Manager, in charge of scheduling, ordering materials, coordinating vendors and subcontractors and communicating between the lead carpenter and the client. He makes sure that everyone and everything is in the right place at the right time.

Scheduling, coordination and communication are critical in any construction project. No one wants to delay a project for weeks because of a scheduling or communication mistake, least of all the homeowners. For example, in a recent kitchen remodel, Josh set up the cabinets for installation on a Monday; he made sure the guys who make the templates for the countertops knew we’d be ready on Tuesday; and he set the flooring installation for Wednesday. Because we work with vendors and subcontractors who know our standards both for quality and efficiency—and because Josh himself keeps right on top of things—he knew that schedule would be met and the homeowners would be enjoying their kitchen as quickly as possible.

I asked Josh whether he had any advice for homeowners who are thinking about a remodel or renovation. “There are a lot of different moving parts in a project, from ordering materials to taking pride in the work,” he cautions. “Don’t automatically go with the cheapest bid but take the time to fully understand each bid and what each contractor offers. It can make the difference between an efficient, high-quality project you love and a string of delays that drive you crazy.”

Josh’s job is important and he is well suited to it. His BA in Operations Management is from the University of Massachusetts Isenberg School of Management. He received a certificate in Project Management from the Wentworth Institute of Technology. He has worked for other construction companies and on his own as a high-end carpenter, creating cabinetry, crown molding, stairs and other custom woodwork.

Like most members of the WORKS team, Josh grew up in the North Shore and is now living in Manchester-by-the-Sea where he enjoys playing soccer and building furniture for his own apartment. “Carpentry isn’t just a job,” he says. “It’s my passion.”

Why did Josh Pinstein choose to join WORKS? He says, “I really wanted to learn the business side of working with a bigger company with more clientele. WORKS is well respected on the North Shore and I wanted to be part of an experienced team. I’m excited to be working for a growing company.”
