THE CHALLENGE
A growing family had lived with a closed-off, undersized kitchen for over a decade. The layout forced whoever was cooking into complete isolation from the rest of the home. They wanted to gather, host, and finally feel proud of the heart of their house.
THE OUTCOME
We opened the floor plan, introduced custom white oak cabinetry, and designed a 10-foot island that now anchors every family gathering. The kitchen went from the room they avoided to the room they never want to leave.

What does "design-build" actually mean?
Design-build means one team handles everything — from the first concept drawing to the final nail. At WORKS By JD, your designer and builder work together under one roof from day one, eliminating miscommunications, reducing delays, and keeping your project on budget.
How do you handle unexpected issues mid-project?
When something comes up, we document it clearly, explain your options, and bring a solution before asking for any decision. Nothing changes without your knowledge and approval first. We’ve been building in New England long enough to expect the unexpected.
How does pricing work? Will I get surprised by costs?
We provide a detailed, fixed-price proposal before any work begins. The price you agree to is the price you pay — as long as the scope doesn’t change. If you want to add something during construction, we document it as a formal change order before proceeding. No surprises.
What is the 7-Year Warranty, exactly?
Our 7-Year Workmanship Warranty covers any defect in how we built your project for seven full years after completion. You receive written warranty documentation at the end of every project and always have a direct line to our team for post-completion support.
Do you handle permits and inspections?
Yes — completely. We pull all required permits, coordinate with local building departments, and schedule all inspections on your behalf. You’ll never need to chase paperwork or deal with town hall. MA HIC License #178604 covers all work we perform across the North Shore.
How long does a typical kitchen remodel take?
A full kitchen remodel typically takes 10–16 weeks from breaking ground to final walkthrough. The planning phase — where we lock in design, materials, and scope — usually takes 4–6 weeks before construction begins. A thorough plan is what keeps the build on schedule.
What areas do you serve?
